Event Overview
The HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB is a trail running event held in Big Bear Lake, California. It offers five race distances over two days. The start and finish line is in the heart of downtown Big Bear Lake.
Race Distances
The event features the following distances:
- 100M: 162 km with 4,850 m of elevation gain.
- 100K: 99 km with 3,120 m of elevation gain.
- 50K: 48.4 km with 1,339 m of elevation gain.
- 21K: 19.5 km with 575 m of elevation gain.
- 10K: 10.5 km with 280 m of elevation gain.
Event Features
The courses provide views of Big Bear Lake and pass through areas such as Sugarloaf Mountain and Siberia Canyon. The routes traverse three different climate zones: high desert, subalpine, and semi-arid.
The event weekend includes a festival atmosphere downtown with food and drinks from local vendors, music, and a parade. The town of Big Bear Lake offers other activities like hiking, mountain biking, and water sports.
Qualifications
The event is a dual qualifier, offering qualification opportunities for both the UTMB World Series Finals and the Western States Endurance Run.
