Knight Run - Buena Vista
Southern Virginia University (SVU) hosts the Annual Knight Run during Homecoming weekend in Buena Vista, Virginia, on October 31, 2026. The event comprises a community 5K and a children's obstacle course, and it takes place at SVU's campus at 1 University Hill Drive.
Distances include:
- 5 km
- 800 m (kids obstacle course, ages 3-10)
Registration for both events opens June 15, 2026. 5K registration closes September 30, 2026; early bird pricing of $30 ends on that date and includes a foam sword, with regular pricing at $35 afterward. Registration for the kids obstacle course remains open through October 31, 2026. The children's obstacle course has no entry fee.
The day includes volunteer and staff check-in, race day registration and packet pickup, a post-race celebration with food trucks, live music, yard games and family activities, and an alumni tailgate. A football game involving the SVU Knights at Knight Stadium follows the celebration.
A costume contest will recognize categories such as fastest in costume, best group, scariest, most creative, funniest, best school spirit, best dressed, and best dressed kid. Awards are planned for 1st through 3rd overall, top men, top women, and top Junior Knights (under 10). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
