KJ’s 5K for Mental Health and Animal Rescue
KJ’s 5K is the 10th annual event held at Portage Lakes State Park in Akron, Ohio. The event supports local mental health services and animal rescue organizations, with proceeds designated for Portage Path Behavioral Health and select animal charities. It includes both an in-person 5K run/walk and a virtual 5K option that can be completed anywhere between September 1 and October 3.
Race packets for virtual participants can be picked up at a local branch or mailed for an additional fee; mailed packets are scheduled to be sent on October 6. Packet pickup is available October 5 through October 9 at Portage Path Behavioral Health in Akron. The event offers race shirts in youth and adult sizes while supplies last; shirt requests submitted by September 15 are more likely to be fulfilled.
Awards are given to the overall top three men, top three women, and top three youth (17 and under). Team awards include Largest Team, Fastest Team, and Most Spirited Team. Team participation is arranged during registration via the Become a Fundraiser option. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Entry fees vary and the published cost range is $10 to $35. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
