About the race
The Kitchener Kids with Cancer Run & Walk is an annual fundraising running event held at Kiwanis Park, 1000 Kiwanis Park Drive, Kitchener, Ontario. The event supports the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario and reports current fundraising progress and team and individual fundraising leaderboards.
Course and race format details include:
- 10 KM run (two loops of the 5 KM route)
- 5 KM run (one loop including an out-and-back section)
- 5 KM walk (untimed)
- 200 m kids run for age 7 and under
The course is routed within Kiwanis Park and is composed mostly of dirt trails. Each kilometre is marked and certified distances are used. Water stations are provided (one on the 5 KM course; three on the 10 KM course). Runners are asked to stay to the right on all trail sections. The event is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and uses computerized timing with results published by RunWaterloo Results.
Event services and participant items noted by the organizer include a limited first-700 technical t-shirt, finisher medals for all finishers, post-race refreshments and musical entertainment, and a food truck area. Entry categories include a stroller occupant registration class that is free when registered, and reduced youth entry fees for children 12 and under.
