Race details
The course runs through the historic Kirkwood neighborhood on tree-lined streets past Craftsman and modern style homes, murals, local businesses, and community areas including Bessie Branham Park. The 5K is officially timed by On Time Results and the race qualifies for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race. Organizers note spring weather considerations such as heat, hills, and humidity.
Awards are offered three deep by gender in these age groups: Overall, 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Overall male and female winners are recognized and top finishers receive a Kirkwood Spike Award. Special prizes are planned for adults in costume, participants with strollers, and those with dogs.
Packet pickup is available at local locations in Decatur and Kirkwood in the days before the race. There are no officially designated parking areas; attendees are asked to plan to walk to registration and the start from nearby neighborhood areas.
