Kirkstall Abbey 7

The Kirkstall Abbey 7 is a 7 mile multi-terrain running event held in Leeds. Hosted by the Kirkstall Harriers Running Club, the race serves as a fundraiser for the Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice and is held in memory of Stephen Blades and Paul Reynard. The event follows a single-lap, undulating course that starts and finishes within the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey.

The route consists of a variety of surfaces including road, riverside paths, and the canal towpath. While the profile is described as mostly flat, the terrain is multi-layered. Participants are not permitted to wear headphones during the race, and the course is noted as being unsuitable for wheelchair users. The entry limit for the event is set at 300 runners, and registration must be completed in advance as there is no entry available on the day of the race.

Facilities available at the race headquarters, located at a gazebo opposite the Abbey Visitor Centre, include baggage storage, toilets, and water stations. Distance markers are provided along the route. Every finisher receives a bottle of beer upon completing the course. Trophies and prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as winners across several veteran age categories ranging from V40 to V70. There are also team prizes for the first male and female club teams, and a specific trophy for the first local runner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
