Race Information
The Kirkland Half Marathon, formerly known as the Mother’s Day Half, is an athletic event featuring multiple distances hosted at Juanita Beach Park. The event includes a variety of terrain and passes through neighborhoods in Kirkland with consistent views of Lake Washington.
The following distances are available:
- Half Marathon
- 5K
- Kid’s Race (approximately 0.5 miles)
The half marathon course uses a combination of paved roads and crushed gravel on the Cross Kirkland Corridor Trail. It features six aid stations positioned every 2-3 miles, offering water, electrolytes, and energy gels. For participants aiming for specific completion times, pacing services are provided for finish times ranging from 1:30 to 2:15. The 5K course is conducted on neighborhood roads surrounding the park and includes one aid station at the second mile.
Logistics and Participation
Participants receive a participant shirt, a custom bib, and a finisher medal. Overall awards are presented to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers based on gun time. Age group awards are also available in five-year increments and must be collected on-site.
Strollers are permitted provided the guardian agrees to safety policies, including the requirement that the minor wears a helmet. Dogs are not allowed on the race courses but may remain in the start and finish areas. Gear check is available in a designated truck, though runners must provide their own bags. Parking is available at Juanita Beach Park and surrounding areas, with a shuttle service operating from the Peter Kirk Municipal Parking Garage.
The event supports Girls on the Run Puget Sound as its official charity partner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
