Event overview
The Orca Half is a USATF-certified road race held in Seattle on September 19-20, 2026. The event offers multiple options: a half marathon, an 8‑miler, a virtual option, and the two-day Blowhole Challenge. The course runs along the shores of West Seattle and includes views of downtown Seattle, Blake Island, Vashon Island, and Puget Sound. The race benefits local nonprofits including Whale Scout and Courthouse Dogs Foundation. Race shirts and medals are produced for participants; the half marathon medal and shirt are designed by a Tlingit artist.
Course, logistics and services
- Distances: Half Marathon, 8‑Miler, virtual options, Blowhole Challenge (both days)
The half marathon is point-to-point, starting at Lincoln Park (8011 Fauntleroy Way SW) and finishing at Don Armeni Boat Launch (1222 Harbor Ave SW). Both courses include small out-and-back sections early in the route; the half has a longer out-and-back section later. Runners use the parking lane, sidewalks, and the Alki Trail; roads remain open to traffic. Aid stations appear every 2–3 miles and supply water, Tailwind electrolytes, and GU gels. The event is cupless; runners are encouraged to use a handheld bottle, hydration pack, or a small reusable cup. Shuttles run from the finish area to the start only. Free gear check is available at the start and bags are transported to the finish. Awards are given to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers by gun time and to age-group winners in five-year increments. Registration and packet pickup options are listed by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
