King of the Mountain - Helena Valley
King of the Mountain is a 16.1 km loop trail run that starts and finishes at Helena Valley Primary School in WA, Australia. The main loop runs anticlockwise up the mountain on the north side of the valley and returns via a detour south of Helena Valley Road after a creek crossing.
The route includes a creek crossing, a steep ascent of about 1.5 km to a granite outcrop called The Mountain, a short single-track section and a ridgeline before a rough, rocky descent back to Victor Road. The course is well marked with junction markers and has nine marshalled locations. Runners must be self-sufficient for water as there are no supplies on course; a drink station and breakfast are provided at the finish. Participants are offered hot soup after the run.
The finish rejoins Helena Valley Road with under 1 km to go. The course has rough, rocky sections and is uneven in places; caution is advised on the descent. There is a course cut off in place.
Online registrations close on Saturday 27 June 2026 at 11:50 PM unless sold out earlier. A late registration penalty applies from the Saturday before the event for non-members only. Entrance fees vary by membership and age category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
