King of the Mountain - Pāuanui
King of the Mountain is a trail race held on 2 January 2027 in Pāuanui, New Zealand, organised by No Code Events. The event starts and finishes at the Pauanui Surf Life Saving Club on Pauanui Boulevard.
The course is an out and back route to the summit of Mount Pāuanui via the Cave Bay Loop track. The route is approx. 7.7 km with around 410 m of elevation gain. Terrain includes steep, rugged trail sections and stairs; descents can become slippery, so griped trail shoes are recommended.
The event is professionally timed with automatic time recording at the finish and a QR code linking to live results. Medals are awarded to the overall King and Queen of the Mountain and to the top male and female in each age category: under 16, 16 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 plus. Every finisher receives a finisher medal.
The event adopts a low waste approach and requests participants bring a personal drink bottle instead of single use cups. The prize giving takes place at the Pāuanui Sports and Recreation Club. The race is part of the Pāuanui Summer Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
