King of the Hill Triathlon : Kinsale, 18 July 2026
The King of the Hill triathlon in Kinsale is a multi-discipline event held on 18 July 2026. Entry is managed via Triathlon Ireland. The course uses local landmarks and beaches around Kinsale and nearby villages.
The race format consists of a sea swim, a road bike section, and an out-and-back run that crosses Castlepark hill. Support materials such as a race briefing, route maps for swim, bike and run, and a beginner guide are provided. A recorded bike-route video is also available. Recent event history shows some years without a race and a 2025 edition held as a run-bike-run after the swim was cancelled.
Course overview:
- 750 m swim at Dock Beach in Kinsale
- 23 km undulating bike via the Speckled Door and the beaches of Garylucas and Garretstown
- 5 km out-and-back run over Castlepark hill, finishing at the Dock Beach
The bike route moves inland through the village of Ballinaspittle before returning to the coastal area. The run follows an out-and-back line on Castlepark hill.
