Kinderhook OK5k
The Kinderhook OK5k is an annual community road race held in Kinderhook. The event includes a main 5-kilometre race and a separate kids 1 mile event. Organizers maintain USATF-certified course maps and provide directions for participants.
The event has a long local history and completed its 26th edition recently. All net proceeds from the OK5k are donated to local nonprofit and charitable organizations; over 20 years the race has provided more than $185,000 to groups that serve the Northern Columbia community. Beneficiary groups listed by the organizers include Boy Scouts, school clubs, fire departments, libraries, food pantries, fraternal organizations, youth organizations, rescue squads, historical societies, trails and fitness groups.
Results, awards listings, and a race racebook are published after the event. The race is associated with local partners and sponsors, including Tierra Farm and Señor Sabor, and lists a timing partner. The event is also connected with the Kinderhook Runners Club and appears within regional race series listings.
