The Albany IceBreaker Challenge 5K

The Albany IceBreaker Challenge 5K is scheduled for March 28, 2026 in Albany, New York, with the event base at the Corning Preserve Boat Launch and the Albany Rowing Center Boathouse. The program includes a five kilometer running and walking event and a separate kids run.

Runners and walkers travel along the Corning Preserve Bicycle Path while rowers from the Albany Rowing Center race in shells on the Hudson River alongside the course. The event also functions as a fundraiser for the Albany Rowing Center to support expanded access to rowing and the Hudson River for community members.

The event offers a souvenir t-shirt to the first 250 registrants and prizes from a local vendor for race category winners. Packet pick-up and last-chance registration are scheduled for Friday, March 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., most likely at Common Roots Albany Outpost, with additional packet pick-up available on race day. Parking is available at the Corning Preserve Boat Launch, with overflow directed to a separate lot if the launch lot fills. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
