The Albany IceBreaker Challenge 5K

The Albany IceBreaker Challenge 5K is a road race and walk held in Albany, New York. The event takes place at the Albany Rowing Center Boathouse within the Corning Preserve. This competition features a format where participants on land race alongside athletes on the water.

This event includes the following distances:

  • 5 km run and walk
  • Kids Run

Participants on the ground follow the Corning Preserve Bicycle Path. At the same time, rowers from the Albany Rowing Center compete in rowing shells on the adjacent Hudson River. The event serves as a fundraiser to support the Albany Rowing Center and its efforts to provide community access to the river for people of all ages.

The first 250 individuals to register receive a souvenir t-shirt. Prizes from a local vendor are awarded to winners in all race categories. Packet pick-up and registration take place the day before the event and on the morning of the race. Parking is available at the Corning Preserve Boat Launch, with additional overflow parking provided if the main lot reach capacity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
