Kilworth Backyard Ultra

Kilworth Backyard Ultra is held in Kilworth Woods, County Cork on Saturday 19 September 2026. The event uses a repeated-lap format in which runners complete a loop of 6.70 km with about 125 m of climb per loop and continue returning to base until only one runner remains. The course is fully marked and the surface is mostly wide paths with a few short sections of narrower forest trail. The starting corral is at the top of the main car park in Kilworth Woods.

There are no aid stations on the course. Water and light refreshments are available near the start and finish corral; runners may keep personal supplies at base camp and may have a crew member to assist only at camp. Help is not permitted along the course. Trekking poles are not permitted. Parking at the venue is limited.

The event is listed as difficulty level Extreme. GPS use is allowed. Participants must carry mandatory Level C kit which includes a waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL water, emergency food, map and compass. The required kit may be finalised on race day and random checks may be carried out. Failing to have required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
