Kill the Hill 5K Vassar
The event is a scenic 5K run and walk in Vassar, Michigan, that begins in downtown, climbs the M-15 hill, and finishes near the Cass River area pavilion and downtown. The course includes signage from Cold Sky Apparel Co that presents historical information about Vassar’s past as a logging community and notes local preservation efforts by the Historical Society. The 2026 event also notes the 40th anniversary of the 1986 flood in Vassar.

T-shirt details are tied to registration timing and sizes are requested during registration. Participants registered before September 1 will have shirts available at packet pickup prior to the event date of September 20, 2026. Registering after September 6, 2026 may mean the race shirt is not available on race day. Additional race shirts may be ordered directly from Cold Sky Apparel Co. A limited number of shirts will be available for purchase at the event.
The kid’s fun run is located at the T. North Pavilion in Vassar and is open to children ages 3 to 17 who are signed up for the 5K. Youth under 17 must have an accompanying adult sign a waiver of liability. 2026 proceeds are designated to support making the event annual, restoring the Vassar Chamber of Commerce, and funding other local events.
