Kill the Hill 5K in Vassar, Michigan
Kill the Hill is a 5K run/walk in Vassar, Michigan that begins in downtown, climbs the M 15 hill, and finishes near the Cass River area pavilion. The course is marked with signs from Cold Sky Apparel Co that include historical information about Vassar’s past as a logging community, and the event notes the 40th anniversary of the 1986 flood.
The route passes local businesses and riverfront areas, highlighting the town’s natural and community features. A separate kid’s fun run is held for participants aged 17 and younger at the T. North Pavilion in Vassar. Shirt sizes are requested during race registration and shirts will be produced before the event. Participants who register before September 1 will have shirts available at packet pickup on September 20, 2026. A limited number of shirts will be available for purchase on race day.
Proceeds for 2026 are designated to help make the event annual, to support restoration of the Vassar Chamber of Commerce, and to fund additional local events.
