About the race
The Kicking Butt 5K Run/Walk is an event at Waterfront Park at the Big Four Bridge in Louisville, KY that raises awareness for colon cancer and supports survivors. The event uses paved park trails and includes a scenic course along the riverfront.
Event options and distances:
- 5K Run/Walk : 3.1 miles on paved park trails.
- 1 Mile Walk : 1 mile untimed on paved surfaces.
- FREE Kid's Dash : 400 yards for children ages 9 and under.
- Virtual Runner/Walker : 3.1 miles completed remotely; mailed race packets available for an additional fee.
Key features include chip timing for the 5K, commemorative shirts, awards for overall top three men and women and age-group awards, teams and prizes for top fundraising teams, and family-friendly games. Walkers, strollers and dogs on fixed-length leashes are welcomed; a best-dressed superhero dog award is planned. The Kid's Dash is untimed and includes a participation medal; there are no awards for that event.
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Prevention Project (1640 Lyndon Farm Ct #108, Louisville, KY 40223) and on race morning at Waterfront Park Big Four Lawn.
