Kicking Butt 5K Run/Walk
Kicking Butt 5K Run/Walk takes place on August 29, 2026, at Waterfront Park in Louisville, Kentucky. The event raises funds and awareness for colon cancer and supports survivors; organizers note new Kentucky legislation intended to make screening easier.
Distances on offer include:
- 3.1 miles 5K Run/Walk
- 1 mile Fun Walk
- 400 yards Kid's Dash
- 3.1 miles Virtual runner/walker
The 5K is chip timed on paved park trails and includes overall and age group awards for top finishers. Age groups for the 5K awards are 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80-plus. Walkers, strollers and dogs on fixed length leashes are welcomed on course. The untimed 1 Mile Walk has no awards. The free Kid's Dash is for ages 9 and under; participating children receive a participation medal but there are no shirts, bibs or awards for that event. A virtual runner/walker option lets participants complete the 3.1 mile distance on their own; race packets and shirts are mailed to virtual participants unless picked up locally.
Additional event features include a scenic paved route at Waterfront Park, commemorative shirts, free race photos, chip timing by RaceRise, team entries and prizes for top fundraising teams. Packet pickup is held the day before in front of the Prevention Project office at 1640 Lyndon Farm Ct #108 and also on race morning at Waterfront Park.
