Kicking Butt 5K Run/Walk - Waterfront Park, Louisville
The Kicking Butt 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Waterfront Park at the Big Four Bridge in Louisville, KY. The event includes the following distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Fun Walk
- 1/4 mile FREE Kid's Dash
- Virtual Runner/Walker
The event promotes awareness of early-onset colorectal and rectal cancer, encourages gathering family history of cancer and polyps, and supports survivors. The organizer notes that rectal cancer is more common in younger patients and that early age onset colon cancer is on the rise.
Course, features and logistics
The course is a long rectangular route on the grounds of Waterfront Park. The entire route is on concrete or paved surfaces and includes three water stops. The start and finish are near the Big Four Bridge along the Ohio River. A lead bike escort will guide runners and turns will be marked with arrow yard signs. Race timing is electronic (chip timing by RaceRise). Race features include commemorative shirts, free race photos, teams, and awards for overall and age-group finishers (top 3 male/female overall and in listed age groups). The Kid's Dash is free, all kids receive a participation medal, and it is not chip timed or awarded.
