The event offers two participation options: a live 5K run and walk held at Fallon Park on the Tinker Creek Greenway, and a virtual 5K option with an extended completion window. The live route begins at Fallon Park, follows a rolling paved greenway, and uses an out and back course. Packet pick up and race day registration take place at the picnic shelter in Fallon Park, with an additional packet pick up the day before at First Baptist Church of Roanoke.

Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall, and to the top male and female in multiple age divisions including 0-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 plus.

The virtual 5K allows participants to complete a 3.1 mile or 5K distance within the event window and receive a t-shirt and finisher medal. The first 100 finishers in either 5K option will receive a finisher medal. A t-shirt guarantee deadline is set for May 11; after that sizes are assigned while supplies last.

A weather and safety policy outlines options such as cancellation, delay, or modification of awards and after race activities. The race director, in consultation with emergency services, will make safety decisions and announce them at the start and finish area. Race officials on bicycle may communicate decisions along the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
