Keynsham Dandy
The Keynsham Dandy is a 12.5 miles trail race starting in Keynsham between Bath and Bristol. The route follows rivers, rolling agricultural land and woods and includes the revived Compton Dandy section with at least two stream crossings. The surface can be muddy and contains obvious slip and trip hazards; runners are advised to take care near livestock and to walk when passing cattle.
The event offers both solo and canicross entries. There is a maximum of 200 entries in total, including 40 canicross places. The minimum age to enter is 18. Entry fees are listed as £21 and £23 for unaffiliated runners. There are no entries on the day.
Race headquarters is The New Inn at 90 Bath Hill, Keynsham BS31 1HN. Toilets are available at registration and a supervised bag drop is provided, but no liability is accepted for loss. Parking is available at Bath Hill East Car Park and is free on race day. The number 39 bus stops near the HQ and Keynsham railway station is about a 13 minute walk away.
The race is marshalled with first aid support. There are two on-course water stations and one at the finish; the event is cup less so runners should bring a cup or refillable bottle or purchase a reusable cup for £3. Medals are awarded to every finisher and prizes are offered across Open and Female categories, masters age groups, canicross and a club team prize. Half of any event surplus will be donated to the Bath, Keynsham & Somer Valley Foodbank.
Event rules include a ban on in ear earbuds except bone conducting headphones, requirements for canicross equipment and insurance, penalties for shortcutting, and time penalties for avoiding the two named stream crossings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
