Kettlefoot Trail Race

Kettlefoot is a trail running event held at the Doe Mountain Recreation Area near Mountain City, Tennessee. This USATF sanctioned event features a variety of terrains and provides runners with views across Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. A unique feature of the course is the opportunity for participants to climb the 60-foot Kettlefoot Fire Tower, which offers 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding states.

The event offers three distinct distance options to accommodate different experience levels:

  • 50 km: Consists of two laps of the 25 km loop with approximately 5,500 feet of elevation gain.
  • 25 km: A single loop covering roughly 15 miles with approximately 2,750 feet of elevation gain.
  • 13 km: A shorter route of approximately 8.8 miles with 1,600 feet of elevation gain.

The 50 km and 25 km courses are characterized by significant climbing, with a total time limit of 10.5 hours for the longest distance. The event is hosted at 1203 Harbin Hill Road, and registration fees include facility access, aid stations, a finisher award, and post-race food. T-shirts are available as an optional add-on to the registration.

The race follows Trail Sisters Approved standards for pregnancy and postpartum deferrals. Packet pickup is available the evening before the race on the front porch of the Doe Mountain Recreation Area and on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
