Kettlefoot at Doe Mountain Recreation Area, Mountain City, TN
Kettlefoot is a trail running event at Doe Mountain Recreation Area near Mountain City, Tennessee. The event is USATF sanctioned and takes place on varied terrain with scenic viewpoints. All participants may climb the 60-foot Kettlefoot Fire Tower for 360° views of Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina.
Registration is handled through Ultrasignup only; there is no paper registration. The registration fee covers use of the facility, aid stations, a finisher award, and post-race food. T-shirts are available as an add-on to keep entry fees lower. Registration closes on Wed, May 27 at 11:59 PM ET. Refund and transfer policies: 50% refunds and transfers allowed through March 30, 2026; pregnancy and postpartum deferrals allowed for up to two years.
Course information and cutoffs are as follows:
- 50K - ~31 miles, ~5,700 feet elevation gain, 10.5 hour cutoff
- 25K - ~15.5 miles, ~2,850 feet elevation gain, 7.5 hour cutoff
- 13K - ~8.5 miles, ~2,000 feet elevation gain, 4 hour cutoff
A free Kiddlefoot Mile for ages 5 to 12 is offered on race day. The one mile course is relatively flat; a responsible adult may accompany a child. No placement awards or swag are provided for the kids mile.
Packet pickup is available the evening before and on race morning. Volunteers receive a t-shirt and post-race food. Doe Mountain is near short-term rentals and campgrounds and is approximately 20 minutes from Damascus, Virginia, 30 minutes from Boone, North Carolina, and 60 minutes from Johnson City and Bristol, Tennessee.
