Kettlefoot, Mountain City TN
Kettlefoot is a trail running event at Doe Mountain Recreation Area near Mountain City, Tennessee, held on June 5, 2027. The event is USATF sanctioned and uses varied trail terrain with panoramic views from the 60 foot Kettlefoot Fire Tower that overlook Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina.
Distances offered:
- 50K, ~31 miles, ~5,500 feet elevation gain, 10.5 hour cutoff.
- 25K, ~15 miles, ~2,750 feet elevation gain, 7.5 hour cutoff.
- 13K, ~8.8 miles, ~1,600 feet elevation gain, 4 hour cutoff.
The 50K is two laps of the 25K loop. Course elevation estimates have varied in runner data; participants are advised to plan for the higher range of reported elevation gain.
Registration is handled online through UltraSignup; there is no paper registration. Registration closes on Thu, Jun 3 at 8:00 PM ET. Entry fees cover facility use, aid stations, a finisher award, and post-race food. T-shirts are available as an add-on. Offer pricing listed for the event ranges from USD 48.50 to USD 71.56.
Refund and transfer policy: no refunds. Transfers to another runner are permitted for use in the same year until May 22, 2027. A pregnancy or postpartum deferral is allowed for up to two years under Trail Sisters Approved standards; no other deferrals are offered.
Volunteers receive a t-shirt and post-race food. Doe Mountain Recreation Area is near Mountain City and is within driving distance of nearby towns and campgrounds; vehicle camping on site may be available by arrangement with the race director.
