Keswick Half Marathon
The Keswick Half Marathon takes place in Portinscale and is scheduled for Sunday 19th September 2027. The race covers the standard half marathon distance, 13 miles 192.5 yards, and follows a route around Derwentwater with an additional loop into the Newlands Valley.
The event is organised by Keswick Rugby Club to raise funds for its grass roots rugby programme and club facilities. The club supports a wide range of teams and age groups, including mixed junior teams, seven junior boys teams, four junior girls teams, two senior men’s teams and a senior women’s team, and reports regular players from roughly age 3 to 63 in a town of about 5,000 people.
Chip timing was introduced in 2026 with the chip embedded in the race number, enabling a live results feed. The race is staffed by volunteers from the rugby club and the local community; marshals provide course support and encouragement.
Entry information notes a race fee of £38.00 plus booking fee, with discounts for affiliated runners. Registration includes a free t-shirt and the option to purchase a commemorative slate medal; orders for the t-shirt and medal close on Friday 3rd September 2027 and general registration closes on Friday 17th September 2027. Same day registration is available for an additional £5 supplement but does not include the free t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
