Kern Cancer Run/Walk and Festival 2026
The Kern Cancer Run/Walk and Festival takes place on September 12, 2026 at Riverwalk Park in Bakersfield, California. The event combines a community run and walk with a vendor fair, survivor social, live music, a mascot run, a children’s jog-a-thon, and awards presentations.
Participants can choose among the following distances:
- 5K walk (not timed)
- 5K run (timed)
- Up to 5K for survivors (free)
- 1 mile kids run (timed)
- Children’s jog-a-thon
Registration details include an early fee of $10, increasing to $20 after March 31, 2026. Children ages 3–11 have a $10 registration. Survivor registration is free; survivors may register to be timed by contacting organizers. T-shirts are available for purchase for $20 with an ordering deadline of August 30, 2026, and some shirts may be sold at the festival. Awards are given for 5K categories, the jog-a-thon, top fundraisers, and other contest categories.
All funds raised support the Kern County Cancer Foundation to assist local patients with cancer-related medical bills and travel for treatment. A designated survivor area and survivor tent will be provided, and the event asks attendees who are ill or recently exposed to illness to refrain from attending for the protection of participants with vulnerable immune systems.
