Kentlands | Lakelands 5K Run, Walk, and Kids Fun Run
The Kentlands | Lakelands 5K is an annual community running event hosted by the Kentlands Community Foundation. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, and registration is open. Now in its 33rd year, the event combines a 5K run and walk with a Kids Fun Run and Tot Trot.
The event typically draws more than 1,600 runners and walkers and includes over 200 children in the youth races. More than 2,000 spectators and community members attend the accompanying post race festival, which features live music, food vendors, giveaways, and family friendly activities.
Proceeds from the race support the Foundation’s work. A percentage of race proceeds is donated to nonprofit organizations serving Montgomery County residents, and the event helps sustain 14 year round programs delivered by the Kentlands Community Foundation in areas such as arts, culture, education, and environmental sustainability.
The event program includes awards and prizes and a Kids t shirt contest for artists age 11 and under to have artwork featured on the official youth shirt.
