Kenmore Cowbell 7K

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the fifth annual Kenmore Cowbell 7K takes place in Akron with a start at the Rialto Theatre on Kenmore Boulevard. The course combines urban and natural sections: it proceeds east on Kenmore Boulevard to the south end of Summit Lake, connects to the Towpath via the Summit Lake Trail, crosses the water on a bridge past the Summit Lake Nature Center and Summit Lake Park, crosses the Ohio & Erie Canal on a second bridge, and then follows the north side of the lake through a neighborhood before returning along Kenmore Boulevard to the finish. The route features a slight uphill roll on Kenmore Boulevard that later levels and then trends slightly downhill toward the finish.

The event offers multiple participation options, including Adult and Student 7K Run/Walk events, a BLVD Mile, a spectator category, and volunteer roles. The finishers’ medal includes a literal cowbell with a ringer. Runners who complete five races in the Akron Promise City Series receive a specially designed medal by an Akron artist.

Proceeds from the event support resources, mentorship and post-secondary scholarships for Akron Public School students in Kenmore and surrounding communities. Discounted registration is available until April 5, 2026. The finish area typically features spectators using cowbells to cheer participants.
