Kenmore Cowbell 7K
Akron Promise hosts the fifth annual Kenmore Cowbell 7K on June 6, 2026, in the Kenmore neighborhood of Akron, Ohio. The course begins and ends at the historic Rialto Theatre and runs along Kenmore Boulevard, around the south end of Summit Lake and onto the Summit Lake Trail and Towpath. The route uses two bridges over the lake and the Ohio and Erie Canal, passes Summit Lake Nature Center and Summit Lake Park, and runs through a nearby neighborhood. The Kenmore Boulevard segment includes a slight uphill roll that levels out before a gentle downhill to the finish. Spectators along the course are noted for cheering with cowbells.
Finishers receive a medal that includes a literal cowbell with a ringer. Participants who complete five races in the Akron Promise City Series receive a specially designed medal by an Akron artist. Proceeds support resources, mentorship and postsecondary scholarships for Akron Public School students in Kenmore and surrounding communities.
Discounted registration is available until April 5, 2026. Event entries listed include adult and student 7K options, a one mile BLVD Mile, spectator registration and volunteer registration. Award categories include top three placements for active military or veterans, Kenmore High School graduates, breast cancer survivors, gender based adult and youth champions, and multiple age group divisions.
