Kendal to Preston ULTRA 50 Relay
The Kendal to Preston ULTRA 50 Relay is a team event on 15 May 2027 in which four runners share the full 50 mile Kendal to Preston route. Each team comprises four runners who each complete one leg of the route, passing a single team tracker at three changeover points. Teams are issued individual bib numbers and must complete kit checks at their check in points.
The four legs and approximate distances are:
- Runner 1: approx. 14.7 miles, Kendal to Carnforth (Lakeland Maze Farm Park)
- Runner 2: approx. 12.75 miles, Carnforth to Galgate
- Runner 3: approx. 13.25 miles, Galgate to Bilsborrow
- Runner 4: approx. 9.3 miles, Bilsborrow to Preston
Only runner one completes check in and the initial kit check at Kendal; runners two, three and four complete check in and kit checks at their respective changeover locations. The team tracker must be passed at each changeover. Mandatory kit to be carried for each runner on their leg includes a waterproof coat or jacket with sealed seams, a spare long sleeved base layer, a water bottle or bladder with minimum 1 litre capacity, a fully charged mobile phone, a foil blanket and a whistle.
The course uses canal towpaths and connecting road sections with varied surfaces such as grass, gravel, concrete, cobbles and tarmac. Final 2027 route details, checkpoint arrangements, cut off times and the exact finish venue in Preston will be provided in the final event information.
