Kendal to Preston Ultra 50
The Kendal to Preston Ultra 50 is a long-distance running event covering a total distance of 50 miles. The route begins at Raines Hall in the village of Sedgwick, near Kendal, and concludes at the Smiths Arms in Lea Town. Participants follow a course that encircles the Lancaster Canal, a historic waterway once used for transporting coal.
The terrain offers views of Morecambe Bay to one side and inland hills and dales to the other. The path passes through several towns and villages, including Burton in Kendal, Tewitfield, Carnforth, Lancaster, Galgate, Forton, and Garstang. The course is marked and includes four checkpoints to assist runners during the journey.
Participants can choose between two entry formats:
- 50 miles solo
- 50 miles relay (4 person teams)
The relay option is divided into four stages of varying lengths. The first leg covers 14 miles from the start to Carnforth. The second leg consists of 14 miles between Carnforth and Galgate. The third leg is a 13-mile section from Galgate to Guys Thatched Hamlet, and the final leg covers the remaining 9 miles to the finish line.
The event is open to individuals aged 18 and older. Registration is available for solo runners or teams of four. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
