Event Information
The Keel Farms Spiked Apple 5k is a running and walking event held at Keel Farms in Plant City, Florida. It offers two distance options: a 5K Run/Walk and a 1.5 Mile Cider Walk. The event is professionally timed and scored by J3 Timing, with results posted online.
Course Details
The course starts and finishes at the farm, featuring a scenic two-loop route. The terrain is a mix of grass and paved surfaces, with several turns through the farm's blueberry fields. The organizers note this is not an optimal course for a personal best time.
Registration & Inclusions
Registration includes a finisher medal that doubles as a bottle opener, a cotton T-shirt, a collapsible glass, a race bib with chip timing, and online results. Participants also receive a homemade cider donut at the finish line and a pour of cider (with juice or soda options for those under 21). Minors can register at a discounted rate.
Awards & Rules
Age group awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in ten-year categories. Competitive runners must start in the first wave to be eligible for awards. Dogs on leashes shorter than six feet are permitted. Strollers are allowed but not recommended due to uneven ground.
Additional Activities
After the race, participants are encouraged to stay and enjoy the farm. The on-site restaurant opens later in the morning and serves farm-fresh food. The event is partnered with the Florida Giant Dog Rescue charity. Participants can also opt for a virtual run, with race materials shipped for a fee.
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup is available the day before the event at Keel and Curley Farm, as well as on race day. Participants are advised to arrive one hour before their chosen start time for day-of pickup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
