Katy 5K (Katy Trail Dallas)
The Katy 5K is an annual 5-kilometer road race organized by Friends of the Katy Trail. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2026, and follows a USATF certified route that passes through Turtle Creek, Uptown, and the Katy Trail corridor, finishing at a large picnic party in Reverchon Park.
Every registration includes a dry-fit recycled short-sleeve race shirt, a custom race bib, and a finisher's medal. The event is officially timed; results are posted online after the race. There is one water station on course and additional water at the finish line. Awards are presented for overall and age-group finishers, with age groups scored by chip time and overall awards by gun time; chip timing is required to be eligible for awards.
The finish-line picnic party features live music from a DJ, two complimentary Michelob ULTRA beverages for those 21 and older (alcoholic or non-alcoholic options noted), free food from more than 35 local restaurants, sponsor giveaways, and a picnic-style festival area. A VIP registration tier offers additional amenities including a branded towel, a shoe bag, VIP tent access with a catered meal, a complimentary beer and seltzer bar, specialty desserts, and a vintage photo bus.
Logistics include packet pick-up at Luke’s Locker and at Reverchon Park on dates leading up to the race, limited free parking at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, and a free bike valet near the start. Proceeds support trail maintenance and related services on the Katy Trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
