Kathy's Run for Cancer
Kathy's Run for Cancer is an athletic event held at Gull Lake High School in Richland, Michigan. The event includes several distances across two days, with routes navigating through the streets neighboring the school and the surrounding countryside. All participants start and finish at the high school location, and the course includes strategically placed aid stations.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- 10K Run: A timed race consisting of two loops of the 5K course.
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed race through residential and rural areas.
- 1K Fun Run/Walk: An untimed event held on the evening prior to the main races.
Computerized timing with disposable chips is provided for the 5K and 10K events, with live results available. Awards are organized by age divisions ranging from 9 and under to 80 and over. Registered participants are provided with technical T-shirts, provided the registration is completed by the designated deadline in late June.
Proceeds from the event support local cancer centers, including the Bronson Cancer Center and the West Michigan Cancer Center. Funds are also used to establish a scholarship for graduating high school seniors entering nursing school. For safety reasons, bicycles, skateboards, and dogs are not permitted on the course, though baby strollers are allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
