Kathy's Run for Cancer
Kathy's Run for Cancer is a community running event held at Richland Gull Lake High School (7753 N 34th St, Richland, MI 49083) over an early July weekend. The event includes a short fun run plus timed 5K and 10K races and is organized to raise funds for local cancer care and a scholarship for graduating Gull Lake High School seniors entering nursing school.
The race program includes:
- 1K Fun Run/Walk (not timed)
- 5K Run/Walk
- 10K Run run as two laps of the 5K course with separate start and finish chutes
The course starts at the high school and winds through streets near the Gull Lake schools and local countryside. Aid stations are placed on the course. Packet pickup and registration occur at the high school on the day before the main races and on race day.
Entry fees are tiered: early online, later online, and late registration levels; the 1K has a lower fee. A family discount applies for groups of three to five. Online registrants who register before the stated deadline are guaranteed a technical race shirt; no refunds are issued. Timing is computerized with disposable chips and live results will be posted during the event. Age divisions are provided. For safety, participants are asked to social distance, no bicycles or wheeled devices are allowed on course, baby strollers are permitted, and dogs are not allowed during the races.
