Kathy's Run for Cancer
Kathy's Run for Cancer is a community running event held on July 4 in Richland, MI. It offers two distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 10K Run (run as two laps of the 5K course)
The event starts and finishes at Gull Lake High School, 7753 N 34th St, Richland, MI 49083. Proceeds are intended to support local cancer treatment centers and to establish a scholarship for graduating Gull Lake High School students entering nursing school.
Course and logistics
The course leaves the high school and follows streets near the Gull Lake schools and surrounding Richland countryside. Aid stations are located along the route. Results are posted live on RunSignUp with computerized timing using disposable chips provided by Mac's Sports Timing. Age divisions are provided from 9 and under up to 80 and over.
Registration fees vary by date: online early registration is $30, online registration from June 1 to July 2 is $35, and late online registration on July 3 and July 4 is $40. A family discount of $3 per person applies for groups of 3-5. No refunds are issued. Technical shirts are guaranteed for online registrants who register by June 23. Packet pickup takes place at Gull Lake High School on the day before and on race day. For safety, bicycles, skateboards, roller-blades, and roller skates are not allowed on the course; baby strollers are allowed and dogs are not permitted.
