Event overview
The 2026 Kansas City Zoo Run, "Run for the Handbills," takes place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 6800 Zoo Drive, Kansas City, MO 64132. The event marks the 23rd anniversary of the Kansas City Zoo Run. A portion of each entry fee supports the Friends of the Zoo.
Race options and fees
Distances and event formats include:
- 4 Mile
- 1 Mile Adult
- 1 Mile Child
- Virtual 4 Mile
- Virtual 1 Mile Adult
- Virtual 1 Mile Child
Published entry fees are $35 for the 4 Mile, $22 for the 1 Mile Adult, and $20 for the 1 Mile Child. Virtual event fees are $35.75 for the 4 Mile, $22.75 for the 1 Mile Adult, and $18.75 for the 1 Mile Child. A service fee of $1.00 is listed. Registration opens December 31, 2025 at 12:00am CST.
The 1 Mile Adult event is open to ages 13 and older. The 1 Mile Child and Virtual 1 Mile Child events are open to ages 1 to 12.
Participant benefits and fundraising
All participants receive themed event swag for the year's featured animal species, including a custom-designed GO-EX Handbills t-shirt, a custom finisher's medal, and one free one-time entry to the Kansas City Zoo valid on race day or any day through the end of 2026.
