About the race
The 24th Annual Head for the Cure 5K - Kansas City takes place on August 22, 2027 at Corporate Woods (Building 40), 9401 Indian Creek Parkway, Overland Park, KS. The event is organized to raise awareness, funds, and hope for people affected by brain tumors.
Funds raised through the event will locally benefit the University of Kansas Cancer Center, Saint Luke’s Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute, Children’s Mercy Kansas City, Solace House, the Children’s Brain Tumor Project, Path to Hope, and other national brain cancer programs, education, and initiatives. Fundraising proceeds support clinical research and related programs.
Race day programming includes day-of packet pickup, a kids fun run, ceremonies recognizing courage and community members, a group photo for brain tumor survivors, and several special recognitions. The event offers a set of community awards that honor caregivers, healthcare professionals, survivors, and memorial tributes: the Legacy of Love, Healthcare Hero, Keeping the Faith, and Memorial recognitions, each with its own nomination process and criteria.
