Jungle Escape - Way Over Yonder Trail Run
The Jungle Escape trail run takes place at Jungle Habitat in West Milford, NJ on October 4, 2026. The course is USATF sanctioned and uses a looped layout that mixes single track trails, fire road and paved sections with notable descents and climbs.
Distances include loop options that keep runners within the trail system. The 10K+ loop is 6.6 miles with more than 600 feet of elevation gain; the Half Marathon+ consists of two loops for a total of 13.2 miles. Half Marathon runners must complete the first lap in under 1 hour 45 minutes to start the second lap. A 5K+ loop of 3.4 miles with about 300 feet of elevation gain is also offered.
All finishers receive wooden finisher plaques. Age group medals are awarded for the top three men and women in specified age brackets for the half marathon and 10K; the 5K awards overall top three men and women. A post race party is provided for participants.
Aid stations are cupless; organizers will provide GU gels or chews, water and GU or Skratch hydration. Runners receive access to RideWithGPS course maps during the event and are advised to download the app beforehand. Required gear includes a charged cell phone, the RideWithGPS app or GPX file, a hydration pack or bottle, a minimum 200 calories of nutrition and a whistle. Event parking has a $5 fee per car.
