Jungle Escape - Way Over Yonder Trail Run
The event is a trail race held at Jungle Habitat in West Milford, NJ, organized by the Way Over Yonder Trail Run Series. The course is USATF sanctioned and uses a looped layout that mixes single track trails, fire road, and some paved sections, with notable descents and climbs.
Distances offered:
- Half Marathon Plus : two loops, 13.2 miles
- 10K Plus : one loop, 6.6 miles, about 600+ feet elevation gain
- 5K Plus : one loop, 3.4 miles, about 300 feet elevation gain
The 10K Plus is a single 6.6 mile loop; the half marathon is two of those loops and requires finishing the first lap within a cutoff to begin the second loop. Aid stations are cupless; organizers will supply gels or chews, water, and GU or Skratch hydration drink. Runners are advised to carry a hydration pack or bottle and on-course nutrition.
All finishers receive wooden finisher plaques. Age group awards are given: half marathon age groups in five year bands from 19 and under up to 70 plus, 10K age groups in ten year bands, and top three overall men and women in the 5K. Event parking requires a $5 fee per car at the park entrance; packet pickup and pre-ordered merchandise are located at the main gate area.
