Juneteenth Fun Run

The Juneteenth Fun Run is an outdoor event held in Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis. Organized by the Loppet Foundation in partnership with local community organizations, the event commemorates Juneteenth, the federal holiday marking the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The run serves as a way to honor history and celebrate freedom through physical activity in a natural setting.

The event takes place on trails within the park and is part of a broader effort to provide inclusive year-round outdoor activities. These initiatives focus on connecting diverse groups, including youth and neighboring communities, to the outdoors through sports and education.

Participants can choose from the following trail race distances:

  • 1 Mile Kids Half Mile
  • 5K trail race

Registration for these events is offered at no cost. The course routes utilize the terrain of Theodore Wirth Park, which is known for its available space for skiing, biking, and running. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
