Jug End Loop Ultra - Egremont, MA
The Jug End Loop Ultra is scheduled for August 22, 2026, with organizers submitting documentation for DCR approval to hold the race for its 11th time. The event takes place at Jug End State Reservation, 120 Jug End Road, Egremont, MA; parking is often located via Guilded Hollow Road and a sign will mark the lot that connects to Jug End Road.
The main event is a six hour ultra using a 4.2 mile loop. Participants may run or walk as many full laps of the 4.2 mile course as they choose before the cutoff. No partial laps will be scored; a .75 mile mini loop will be opened for the final hour to allow completion of common distance milestones. Incomplete 4.2 mile laps do not count after the six hour mark.
The course follows the Jug End Loop Trail including the upper loop and passes through woods, fields, and an apple orchard. Each lap includes approximately 2.1 miles of uphill and 2.1 miles of downhill with about 830 feet of elevation change per lap.
Registration offers an early bird period through December 1 and regular registration afterward, with registration closing on August 22. The event benefits the Louison House in North Adams, MA; past events have donated more than $10,000. The 4.2 Mile John G Memorial Run will donate profits to Dana Farber. Awards include overall male and female, expanded age groups, handmade awards for champions, and a 16 oz handmade ceramic mug for finishers.
