Event overview
The Jug End Loop Ultra is scheduled for August 22, 2026, at Jug End State Reservation in Egremont, MA. Organizers have submitted documentation to the Department of Conservation and Recreation to hold the race for its eleventh running. The event format includes a timed ultra where participants complete laps of a marked loop course within a six-hour limit. Early bird registration is offered through December 1; regular registration follows after that date.
Distances
- 4.2 miles per lap
- 0.75 mile mini loop used during the final hour
Course and rules
The course follows the Jug End Loop Trail, including the upper loop, and runs through woods, fields, and an apple orchard. Each full lap comprises about 2.1 miles of uphill and 2.1 miles of downhill, with approximately 830' of elevation change per lap. Runners may complete as many full 4.2 mile laps as they wish before the six-hour cutoff. No partial 4.2 mile laps will be scored; a shorter mini loop is available in the final hour to allow additional distance milestones.

Overall awards are given to the top male and female. Age-group awards for the six-hour event cover standard brackets from 0-12 up to 80+. All finishers receive a 16 oz handmade ceramic mug.
