Jug End Loop Ultra - August 22, 2026
The Jug End Loop Ultra is a six hour event held at Jug End State Reservation in Egremont, MA. Organizers have submitted documentation for a DCR permit to hold the race for its 11th occurrence. The event uses a 4.2 mile loop that follows the Jug End Loop Trail and includes the upper loop.
The course runs through woods, fields, and an apple orchard. Each 4.2 mile lap includes approximately 2.1 miles of uphill and 2.1 miles of downhill, with about 830 feet of elevation change per lap. Participants may run or walk as many complete 4.2 mile laps as they choose within the six hour time limit; no partial laps are scored. During the final hour a 0.75 mile mini loop will be available to help participants reach distance milestones.
Registration offers an early bird period through December 1 and regular registration thereafter. This year's beneficiary is the Louison House in North Adams, MA; the 4.2 Mile John G Memorial Run will donate profits to Dana Farber. Past events have donated more than $10,000 to Louison House.
Awards include overall top male and female, expanded age group awards in the six hour event, a unique finisher 16 ounce handmade ceramic mug for all finishers, and handmade awards for champions. Teachers, service members, and first responders may use code SERVICE! for a 10 percent discount.
