Judgment Day Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Run/Walk
The event takes place in Bakersfield with start and finish inside Sam Lynn BallPark. The program includes a half marathon, a 10K run or walk, a 5K run or walk, and a virtual half marathon.
The half marathon route uses the Kern River paved trail east, a 3.5 mile loop on the Panorama Vista Preserve dirt trails, and a closed-road loop on Alfred Harrell Highway / China Grade that includes about a one mile climb to the Panorama Bluffs. Runners follow the bluffs through Panorama Park, then descend to the paved running trail along the Kern River and finish back inside the ballpark. The organizers describe the half marathon as scenic.
The 10K starts with the half marathon field and splits at mile 2.8 to follow a 0.40 mile dirt trail with about 190 feet of elevation gain, then joins the Panorama paved trail and returns to the ballpark finish. The 5K is an out-and-back entirely on the Kern River paved trail and is described as fast and flat.
Aid stations are located at miles 1.4, 3.6, 6.1, 7.1, 9.1, 10.0, and 11.6. Porta potties are available at several mile markers. Race amenities include an interactive RaceJoy experience, live results by text, free breakfast and race photos, on-course nutrition, music, awards, apparel, and finisher medals.
