The Judgment Day Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K is a multi-distance event held in Bakersfield, California. The race features a variety of terrains, including grass, paved trails, dirt paths, and closed roads. Participants experience a start and finish located inside the historic Sam Lynn BallPark.
Available race distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K Run/Walk (6.2 miles)
- 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
- Virtual Half Marathon
The Half Marathon course leads runners out of the ballpark onto the paved Kern River Trail and into the Panorama Vista Preserve for a 3.5-mile dirt trail loop. It includes a one-mile climb along Alfred Harrell Highway to the Panorama Bluffs, followed by a descent via the Manor Street exit back to the river trail. The 10K follows a similar initial path before splitting at mile 2.8 to take a 0.40-mile dirt trail climb with approximately 190 feet of elevation gain. Both routes provide views from the bluffs before returning to the stadium. In contrast, the 5K is a flat out-and-back course entirely on the paved Kern River Trail.
The event offers several amenities, including numerous aid stations equipped with water, Electrolit, and GU. Facilities include portable toilets along the routes. Participants receive a finisher medal, and gender-specific apparel such as tank tops for women and short-sleeve shirts for men. Post-race activities feature a fresh hot breakfast, fruit bars, a beer garden, and live DJ music. Results are provided via text, and race photos are available for participants.
