Event Overview
The fourth annual joyRUN is held at Heritage Park in Olathe, Kansas. This event acts as a support initiative for JoyKC, a nonprofit organization providing free regular programming for teenagers and adults with disabilities within the Kansas City area. Participants have the option to engage as individual fundraisers or form teams to collect donations through dedicated fundraising pages.
Distances and Categories
The event offers several options for runners and walkers of different ages:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 1 Mile Run
- 1 Mile Walk
- Kids 1 Mile Run/Walk (for ages 12 and under)
Children under the age of 5 are permitted to participate at no cost. Registration fees increase in stages leading up to the race day. Participants who register by September 1 are guaranteed an event t-shirt.
Venue and Schedule
The activities are centered at Shelter 1 within Heritage Park. Packet pickup is available on the Thursday before the event at Community Covenant Church in Lenexa, or at the park on the morning of the race. Following the conclusion of the running and walking events, an After Bash Celebration is held for all participants. Leashed dogs are permitted to accompany participants on the course.
