Joshua Tree Half Marathon
The Joshua Tree Half Marathon is a night race through the Mojave Desert near Joshua Tree on November 7, 2026. The route covers 13.1 miles on mostly dirt roads and trails, with stretches of loose and deep sand and varying terrain that affect footing. Colorful lights mark parts of the course and the night sky is a prominent feature of the event.
Runners are required to carry a headlamp or flashlight and wear reflective gear for safety. The course is well marked, but participants are responsible for staying alert, following directions, keeping left with traffic when instructed, and remaining on course to avoid disqualification. The race has a course time limit of four hours and is not suitable for strollers.
The event operates a cup-free hydration system; runners are asked to bring a reusable water bottle, a foldable Nathan cup, or a hydration pack to use at aid stations. Recommended items include a hydration system, trail shoes, gaiters to reduce sand intrusion, a buff or bandana, and personal nutrition.
Place medals are awarded to top finishers in overall and Masters categories across genders and non-binary divisions where applicable, and all finishers receive a finisher medal. Results and race photos are published digitally after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
