Joshua Tree Half Marathon
The Joshua Tree Half Marathon is a night race through the Mojave Desert near Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms. The course covers 13.1 miles over mostly dirt roads and trails with sections of loose and deep sand. Runners navigate a looped sandy trail course that passes desert vegetation, rock formations, and open skies.
Because the event takes place after dark, a headlamp or flashlight is required and reflective gear is recommended. The course is marked and aid stations provide water and electrolyte drink from coolers; the event is cup free so runners should carry a reusable bottle, lightweight collapsible cup, or a hydration pack. Runners are responsible for staying on course and following event directions to avoid disqualification. A time cutoff applies to the half marathon.
Logistics include an on-site expo and bib pickup on race day with an option to have bibs shipped for a fee. Designated parking areas are provided near the race site; spectators are asked not to drive to other parts of the course. The event promotes zero waste practices with separate compost, recycle, and trash containers.
Awards include place medals for top finishers by gender and non-binary categories and age group place medals, plus finisher medals for all who complete the race. Some place medals can be shipped after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
