Jordanelle Triathlon
The Jordanelle Triathlon is held at Jordanelle Reservoir in the Rock Cliff Recreation Area near Kamas, Utah. The event offers multiple race formats including sprint and intermediate Olympic triathlons, an aquabike, and a duathlon. The venue uses a single transition area for swim-to-bike and bike-to-run transitions and limits on-site vehicle access via parking passes.
Distances offered
- Sprint: 750 yards swim, 14 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
- Intermediate (Olympic): 1500 yards swim, 25 mile bike, 6.2 mile run
Swims use a time-trial start in a rectangular, counterclockwise loop with one lap for sprint and two laps for the intermediate distance. Swim cap colors identify waves with red for sprint and green for intermediate. Water temperature in June is typically between 58 and 64 degrees. Aid stations are placed approximately every 1 to 1.5 miles on the run and include water and electrolyte replacement.
Bike courses are described as a false flat with an approximate 1 to 2 percent grade, manned intersections, and specific turnaround and merge cautions between sprint and Olympic riders. Littering on course may result in time penalties and athletes are required to retrieve discarded gel packets or bottles.
Packet pickup is scheduled before race day at multiple locations and there is no packet pickup on race day. On-site parking is limited; many participants will use shuttle service from an offsite fairgrounds. Pets are not allowed in the Rock Cliff area and event guidelines emphasize leave no trace practices.
Awards include top three overall male and female finishers and age-group awards for both genders across standard age brackets plus Clydesdale and Athena categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
