John Wayne Grit Series - Newport Coast (May 8, 2027)
The John Wayne Grit Series Newport Coast run on May 8, 2027 takes place at Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach and benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. The course uses dirt roads and single track trails and includes hill climbs with ocean views. Both loop courses start and finish at the bridge in the lower parking lot of the park. The park elevation is listed as 1,033 ft.

Participant items and awards are provided. Each participant receives a Grit Series shirt and a finisher mug at the finish line. There are podium prizes for three female and three male finishers on each course, for a total of 18 podium medals and prizes. The event is cup less; aid stations will not supply cups. Runners should bring a hydration pack or handheld bottle with a large opening for refilling. Filled water bottles will be available for finishers, and a complimentary Nathan water cup is available at the expo/start line area.
Logistics noted as tentative: packet pickup at Road Runner Sports Costa Mesa (1835 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa). Parking is available inside the park for a vehicle fee paid by phone with QR codes, processed by LAZ parking which charges a transaction fee. Survivors who register receive a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last. Photography, videography, and a digital photo booth are planned on race day.
