John Wayne Grit Series - Newport Coast
The event takes place on May 8, 2027 at Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach, California. The course runs on dirt roads and single track trails and features hill climbs and ocean views. Both loop courses start and finish at the bridge in the lower parking lot of the park. The listed elevation at Crystal Cove State Park is 1,033 ft.
The race benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation and supports its cancer research and programs. There are three male and three female podium places for each course, for a total of 18 podium medals and prizes. The event is cup less; aid stations will not provide cups. Runners should use a hydration pack or handheld bottles that volunteers can refill. Filled water bottles will be available for finishers and a complimentary Nathan water cup can be picked up in the expo/start area.
Mandatory packet pickup is scheduled for Thursday, May 6, 2027 at Road Runner Sports Costa Mesa, 1835 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA 92627. Participant packets include a bib, a John Wayne Grit Series shirt, and other items; finisher mugs are distributed at the finish line. The event notes no pacing and no muling; violations may result in disqualification.
Food will be available for purchase from Bear Flag Fish Co. Parking inside the park requires a $15 fee and payment by phone via QR code.
