John Wayne Grit Series – Fort Worth
This event is a 5K run on November 7, 2026, that weaves through the historic Fort Worth Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas. The course begins at the "John Wayne: An American Experience" exhibit, follows cobblestone streets through the Stockyards, continues along the Trinity Trail with views of the downtown Fort Worth skyline, and returns to the Stockyards for the finish.
Packet pickup is mandatory on Friday, November 6, 2026 at the John Wayne exhibit location in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Each participant picks up a bib at packet pickup and receives a John Wayne Grit Series shirt plus a finisher mug at the finish. All participants also receive one entry to the John Wayne exhibit and a shop discount. Cancer survivors who register receive a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last.
The event is cup less; runners should bring a hydration pack or handheld water bottle with a large opening for refill at aid stations. There is an aid station at the 1.5 mile mark that participants pass twice. The race includes a competitive component with three female and three male podium winners and related medals and prizes.
The run benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation to support cancer research and programs. Fundraising activity is part of the event, with a stated fundraising goal of $80,000 and a fundraising week in October 2026. The event is listed as sold out.
