John Wayne Grit Series – Fort Worth
The event is a 5K road run through the historic Fort Worth Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas. The course begins at the John Wayne: An American Experience exhibit, follows cobblestone streets through the Stockyards, continues out along the Trinity Trail with views of the downtown Fort Worth skyline, and returns to the Stockyards for the finish.
The run benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. Fundraising activity includes a designated Fundraising Week (October 19 to 25, 2026) and a stated fundraising goal of $80,000. The event date is November 7, 2026, and the event is listed as sold out.
Participants aged 10 and up receive event items including a race shirt and a finisher mug; bibs are picked up at packet pickup and finisher shirts are distributed at the finish line. Packet pickup and meet-ups are held at the John Wayne: An American Experience exhibit in the Fort Worth Stockyards; survivors who register receive a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last. The event is cup less; runners are asked to bring their own handheld bottle or hydration pack, with filled bottles provided for finishers. One aid station is located at the 1.5 mile mark and is passed twice on the course.
The event includes a race component with podium prizes for the top three female and top three male finishers, on-course photography and videography, merchandise for sale, and an entry to the John Wayne exhibit with a shop discount for each 5K registrant.
