John Wayne Grit Series - Fort Worth
This event is a 5K run through the historic Fort Worth Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas. The course begins at the "John Wayne: An American Experience" exhibit, follows cobblestone streets, continues along the Trinity Trail with views of the downtown Fort Worth skyline, and returns to the Stockyards.
The run benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation and supports pioneering cancer research and programs. The event date is November 7, 2026; registration closes November 4, 2026. Early bird pricing offered savings of $20 until August 15, 2026 and $10 until September 26, 2026. A fundraising week is scheduled for October 19 to 25, 2026 with a fundraising goal of $80,000 (current progress shown as 64%).
Packet pickup is mandatory on Friday, November 6, 2026 at the John Wayne exhibit at 2501 Rodeo Plaza; participants may pick up other runners' packets if needed. Participants must be age 10 and up. Each runner receives a race shirt and a finisher mug; bibs are distributed at packet pickup and finisher items are given at the finish. Cancer survivors who register receive a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last.
The race is cup less; runners should bring hydration packs or handheld bottles with large openings for refill at aid stations. There is an aid station at the 1.5 mile mark that runners pass twice. No pacing or muling is allowed and will result in disqualification. The event is sold out. Parking is in Lot 2 and dogs are not permitted.
