John Wayne Grit Series – Fort Worth (5K)
The event is a 5K run through the Fort Worth Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas, beginning and ending at the "John Wayne: An American Experience" exhibit. The course follows cobblestone streets and then continues along the Trinity Trail with views of the downtown Fort Worth skyline. The event benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation and includes a fundraising component with a stated fundraising goal of $80,000 and a designated fundraising week in October 2026.
Participants must be age 10 and up. Registered participants receive a John Wayne Grit Series shirt and a finisher mug; bibs are distributed at packet pickup and finisher items are handed out at the finish line. Packet pickup and meet up take place at the John Wayne exhibit on November 6 and on event day, November 7, 2026. Cancer survivors who register receive a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last.
The race includes a measured aid station near the 1.5 mile mark that participants pass twice, and the event is cup less so runners should bring a handheld bottle or hydration pack; filled bottles will be provided for finishers. The event offers merchandise for sale, a race component with podium prizes for three female and three male finishers, photography and a digital photo booth, and a single exhibit entry and shop discount for each 5K participant.
