59th Annual John Demille Firecracker 8K Road Race

The 59th Annual John Demille Firecracker 8K Road Race is scheduled for July 4, 2026 in Bethel, Connecticut. The event is based at the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center, 1 School Street, Bethel CT 06801.

Online registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes at midnight on July 3, 2026. Entry fees are $30 through June 20 and increase to $40 beginning June 21. Tech shirts and race packets are guaranteed for participants who register by June 6; race day pickup only and shirt sizes are available first come first serve.

The race uses chip timing with split times; finish times will be posted at the end of the race by Fast Track Timing LLC. Overall prizes are offered for male and female finishers: $200 for first, $100 for second, and $50 for third. Additional prizes are awarded by age category excluding the top three overall; age groups are 10 and under, 11-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 plus.
