Event details

The 59th Annual John Demille Firecracker 8K Road Race is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026 in Bethel, Connecticut. The course distance is 8K. The event is based at 1 School Street, Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center, Bethel, CT 06801. Chip timing with split times and finish results will be provided by Fast Track Timing LLC. A water station and refreshments will be available to participants.

Registration and prizes

Online registration opens May 1, 2026. Online registration closes at midnight on July 3, 2026. The base entry fee is $30 through June 20; the price increases to $40 beginning June 21. Tech shirts and race packets are guaranteed for those registered by June 6; race day pick up only and sizes are available first come, first serve. Prize amounts are listed for overall finishers and age categories: $200 for first overall male and female, $100 for second overall male and female, and $50 for third overall male and female. Additional awards are offered by age group (excluding the top three): 10 & under, 11-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
