John Clarke Memorial Fell Race
The John Clarke Memorial Fell Race is a Category A fell race located within the M25 motorway. To meet the specific requirements for this classification, the course incorporates multiple ascents and descents around the Yardley Valley.
The race route concludes on Pole Hill, offering views across the Lea Valley toward central London landmarks. The event is characterized by a low-key atmosphere and takes place near the summer solstice, ensuring that all participants finish their run in daylight. The start location is situated approximately a 10-minute jog from the clubhouse, and post-race refreshments are provided at the club facilities.
The event is open to both club members and non-members. Registration is available via the Spond platform, with a standard entry fee of £5. While pre-registration is encouraged to minimize administrative tasks, on-the-day entry is permitted until 30 minutes before the start.
This race has a long history dating back to 1996. Current course records were established in 2017 with times of 20:20 for men and 25:11 for women. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
