John Clarke Memorial Fell Race
The event is the 30th running of the John Clarke Memorial Fell Race, scheduled for 19 June 2026. It is a Category A fell race held inside the M25 motorway. The course uses several different ups and downs around the low point of Yardley Valley to meet the ascent requirements for a Category A race.
The finish is on Pole Hill, offering views over the Lea Valley toward central London landmarks. The start is a short jog from the clubhouse, about ten minutes at an easy pace, which provides a built-in warm up. The event is described as low key and open to all.
Entry is handled through the SPOND platform and carries an entry fee of £5. Separate SPOND sign-ups exist for members and non-members. Organisers encourage entering before race day to reduce on-the-day administration; on-the-day entry is possible but closes before the race start. Post-race refreshments are provided at the clubhouse.
