Jimmie Hale Mission Rescue Run 5K & 10K
The Jimmie Hale Mission Rescue Run is an annual event held in the community of Homewood, Alabama. The course starts and finishes on 29th Avenue South and takes participants through local neighborhoods. The routes for the 5K and 10K are described as mostly flat, with the 10K consisting of a double loop of the 5K course. Both the 5K and 10K courses are USATF certified.
Participants have several options for involvement:
- 10K: A chip-timed, run-only event with a time limit of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- 5K: A chip-timed race where walkers are also welcome.
- 1 Mile Fun Run: An in-person run or walk.
- Virtual Options: Opportunities to complete the 10K, 5K, or 1 mile distances at a personal location.
- Sleep In: An option for those who wish to receive a t-shirt without participating in the physical event.
Registered attendees for the in-person races receive a race t-shirt and a swag bag, with distributions limited to the first 400 registrants. Post-race amenities include food, water, and sports drinks. Awards are presented for top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in various ten-year age groups for both the 5K and 10K. Pets on leashes and strollers are permitted. Parking is available at the Soho parking lot and through local street parking. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
