Jim Thorpe Run - June 27, 2026
The Jim Thorpe Run is presented by the Sports Warriors Track Club at the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Proceeds from the event support the Sports Warriors Track Club and will benefit an affiliated athlete who qualified for the 2028 USA Olympic Marathon Trials; funds are intended to help the athlete focus on training while pursuing graduate studies.
Event offerings include:
- 1 mile or 2 mile Fun Walk - non timed, out and back on paved asphalt.
- 5k Race - chip timed, two loop course on paved asphalt with an elevation gain of about 3 feet.
- 1k Youth Run - flat paved course with an adult lead guide, non timed.
- Toddler Dash - straight course just under 200 meters on paved asphalt, non timed.
Course details note that the 1 mile walk turns at a half mile marker and returns to the start; the 2 mile walk turns near a water station at approximately the one mile mark. The 1k includes multiple turns and will be guided to avoid misdirection.
Awards and eligibility are specified for the 5k and youth divisions. The 5k serves as the USATF New Mexico Association 5k Road State Championship for eligible members with age group and cash prize categories. The Toddler Dash provides a finish goodie bag to participants. Packet pickup is staged at the SIPI campus Hogan; on event day parking may be more than 400 meters from the Hogan.
