About the race
The Jim Mayer Trail Family Fun Run is the 11th annual event held in Johnstown, PA on September 5, 2026. It takes place on the Jim Mayer Riverswalk Trail and is part of the 2026 Cambria County Trails Series.
Distances and options include:
- 5K run
- 5K walk
- 5K youth entry for ages 17 and under, free
- Youth walk for ages 17 and under
The course is an out and back along the original section of the Jim Mayer Trail from the Riverside Trailhead at 200 Michigan Ave to Bridge Street. The route follows the Stonycreek River and passes the Trail Art Murals near the old trolley bridge in Moxham. A water and Gatorade station is available at the 5K turn around point by Bridge Street, and water, Gatorade, and first aid supplies are available at the finish. Walkers are asked to stay to the right on the trail. The event proceeds in rain or shine.
Registration closes August 22. Early and late registration fees differ; youth 17 and under are free for the 5K, and members of Friends of the Trails receive a five dollar discount. Same day registration is available at a published fee and shirts are not guaranteed for same day entrants.
Medals are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers in both the 5K run and the 5K walk, with youth awards provided as well. Timing and results are handled by UltraSignUp and photos and results are posted after the event. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Trails program to support Cambria County trails.
