Event overview

The Jen McKenna Paddle and Run 6.0 is a paddle-and-run event held at Higgens Point, Coeur D Alene, ID, on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The event combines kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) with running. Registration opens April 1, 2026. Post-race food and beverages are provided.

Course and format

There are two race distances: short course and long course. The short course begins just east of the Higgens Point boat launch, includes a paddle around Higgens Point into Blue Creek Bay with a turnaround, then a run along the Centennial Trail finishing at Higgens Point Park. The long course is a paddle-run-paddle-run route that goes into Blue Creek Bay, uses the Blue Creek Trail system, returns to Higgens Point, and includes a Centennial Trail segment.

  • Paddle (short course): 1.6 miles
  • Run (short course): 4 miles
  • Total (long course): 10 miles

Race categories, teams and awards

Short course is offered as an individual or 2-person team (1 paddler, 1 runner). Long course is offered as an individual or 2- or 3-person team (1 paddler with 1 or 2 runners); team long course can use one paddler who moves between two runners. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women for each course and to top teams. Proceeds benefit Companions Animal Shelter.
