The event is organized by Jelly Bean 5k and supports Trinity Presbyterian Church's Global Outreach Projects and the mission project at Dogwood Acres. Dogwood Acres' stated mission is to provide a retreat environment where individuals and groups can grow in faith, enjoy wholesome recreation, and nurture Christian fellowship in a natural, unspoiled part of creation.
