Proceeds support several local and state law enforcement–related efforts. These include the Oklahoma C.O.P.S. chapter, which assists family members and co-workers of fallen officers; the Jarid Taylor Heart of a Hero award presented to one cadet at each CLEET and KTC police academy graduation; an annual Blessed Peacemaker award for an officer from each Bryan County police department; and annual partnerships with a local police department to provide funds for equipment and supplies. In past years funds have been awarded to local departments.
The event honors the life of Jarid Taylor, a Bryan County Sheriff’s Deputy who died in a traffic incident on January 14, 2020 while en route to a 911 call. The event also serves as an occasion for community remembrance and to mark his birthday on July 28. Jarid is remembered in the source text as a father of two children who enjoyed deer hunting and OU football. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
