Jamestown Triathlon
The Jamestown Triathlon is held at Jamestown Beach Event Park in Williamsburg, Virginia and offers Olympic and Sprint triathlon options along with relay and aquabike entries. The event takes place near the original Jamestown Settlement and the greater Williamsburg area.
Distances
- Olympic: 1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 20K bike, 5K run
Swims are on rectangular courses in the brackish James River starting from Jamestown Beach. Most of the swim lanes run parallel to shore. Water depth along the course ranges from about 6 to 10 feet, kayak rentals are available onsite, and water temperatures are typically expected in the mid to upper 70s with a preliminary reading posted before the race and an official reading on race morning.
Both bike courses are described as mostly flat and fast. Courses use dedicated bike lanes on Centerville Road and include out and back sections; there are specific turn points on Brick Bat Road and shared return sections with other distance athletes. The run courses follow paved bike and jogging trails, shaded packed gravel segments, and historic farmland; aid stations on the Olympic run appear about every mile offering ice water and Gatorade.
Race logistics note packet pickup at the Jamestown Event Beach Park on the days before and the day of the race with photo ID required for pickup. The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned. Registrations are non refundable and race deferrals and USAT one day licenses are available. Participants receive event apparel, socks, a finisher medal, post race food and free finisher photos.
