Jamestown Triathlon
The Jamestown Triathlon is held at Jamestown Event Beach Park near historic Jamestown and uses the James River for open-water swimming. Two distance options are offered.
- Jamestown Olympic: 1.5K swim; 40K bike; 10K run
- Jamestown Sprint: 750m swim; 20K bike; 5K run
Swim courses are rectangular layouts in the brackish James River starting from Jamestown Beach. Water depth along the course is generally 6 to 10 feet and water temperatures are typically in the mid to upper 70s; a preliminary reading is posted before the event and an official reading is taken on race morning. Kayak rentals are available onsite.
Bike courses stay entirely in James City County, feature mostly flat terrain and include dedicated bike lanes on Centerville Road and out-and-back sections. Notable turns include Brick Bat Road where routes merge or separate. Run courses are flat and use asphalt bike paths and shaded, packed gravel trails with aid stations about every mile supplying ice water and Gatorade.
All events are USA Triathlon sanctioned and offer multiple scoring categories including Overall, Masters Overall, Age Group, Aquabike, Military, Clydesdale, Athena and Relay Teams. Registrations are non-refundable; race deferrals and one-day USAT licenses are noted in the event policies. Packet pickup occurs at the race site on the weekend and photo ID is required to collect race materials. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
