James Weldon Johnson Birthday Run
The event takes place on June 20, 2026 at James Weldon Johnson Park, located at 135 West Monroe Street, Jacksonville, Florida. It offers a timed 5K and a separate one mile Fun Run/Walk that begin and end at the park and route participants through the historic LaVilla neighborhood.
The course includes the "Along This Way Race Route," a series of interactive stations that share stories about the park’s namesake and invite participants to proceed at a "Party Pace" to experience the route. The day concludes with a block party at the park featuring food trucks, games, a DJ, cupcakes, live music elements, and prize drawings. Chip timing, shirts for entrants, medals for finishers, overall and age-group awards, team competition, and post-race prizes are listed as race features. Entrants will be registered to win tickets and other prizes; some prizes require presence to claim.
