Jail Break 5K - St. Augustine
The Jail Break 5K takes place on October 24, 2026, at The Old Jail, 167 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine, FL. Proceeds benefit Investing in Kids (INK!), a nonprofit that supports programs, teacher resources, and classroom needs for St. Johns County public schools. The event offers an in-person 5K and a virtual 5K option.
The certified course (USATF Course # FL17069TY) begins at The Old Jail, follows Magnolia Avenue, crosses the Vilano Bridge, and runs toward the Atlantic Ocean. Shuttle transportation returns participants from the finish to the start. Water stations are located at the start, one mile, two mile, and the finish.
Amenities include a finisher's medal, a distinctive event t-shirt, themed course elements, a costume contest with cash prizes, refreshments, and family-oriented activities. T-shirt availability and size are guaranteed for registrations completed by September 30, 2026. Packet pick up is available the day before at the Old Town Welcome Center and on race day at The Old Jail.
Awards are given to overall male and female finishers and to the top three in multiple age groups from 9 and under through 80 and older. The costume contest will award prizes for the top three adult and top three youth costumes, judged by a local panel. St. Johns County public schools may enter a Team Challenge; the public school with the most registrants earns a trophy and a $1,000 award, with prizes for second and third place teams.
Timing and scoring are managed by Hasselmania Productions LLC using disposable electronic tags attached to bibs; printed results will be posted at the site and available live online at RaceSmith.com. In the event of inclement weather, emergency, or natural disaster, INK reserves the right to cancel or postpone the race; there will be no refunds in that case. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
