Trail Running in Palm Coast
The Jacks 50k Trail Race takes place in Palm Coast, Florida, held in memory of Carl Jack Forman II. The event features a course located near the Atlantic Ocean, primarily consisting of single-track trails through shaded hammock terrain. Participants run on the Mala Compra Greenway Trail, which is approximately 7.66 miles long per loop. A brief gravel section at the beginning of the race allows the field to spread out before entering the woods.
The event offers three primary distances for participants:
- 50 km: Runners complete four loops with an additional 0.42 mile section on the first lap.
- 24 km: Participants complete two loops of the trail course.
- 12 km: Runners complete a single loop of the trail course.
The race is limited to 125 runners across all distances. All registered participants receive a shirt and a finisher award. Handcrafted awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as winners in the masters and grandmasters categories. Recognition is also given to the youngest and oldest finishers in each distance.
Additional activities include free non-competitive races for children. Children aged 3 to 6 can participate in a 0.25-mile run, while children aged 7 to 12 can run a 0.50-mile distance. All participants in the children's events receive a participation ribbon. The finish line area is located adjacent to the ocean, providing access to the water after the event.
